WALLINGFORD — A 52-year-old local man was killed early Thursday when his motorcycle struck a tree on Old Colony Road.

Police identified the man as Raymond Stone of 76 Spicehill Drive. Lt. Marc Mikulski said Stone was riding his Harley-Davidson on Old Colony Road at about 1 a.m. when it left the road and hit a tree on the west side of the road.

The road remained closed until 6:30 a.m. while police investigated the crash.

Outside Stone’s home on Thursday afternoon a family member said Stone was a “great guy,” but declined to comment further.
