Local motorcyclist dies after Route 9 crash

A Berlin man died Oct. 1 after a fatal motor vehicle accident on Route 9 in Middletown, near the Arrigoni Bridge.

Mark Lemanski, 56, of Berlin, was traveling south bound on Route 9, on exit 16, when he lost control of a 2003 Harley Davidson shortly after 6 a.m., according to a police statement.

The motorcycle collided with a 2013 Toyota Prius that was stopped for traffic at the Hartford Avenue exit. The Toyota was operated by Frank Mohr, 55, of Meriden.

Lemanski was transported to Middlesex Hospital where he died due to his injuries, according to the press release. Mohr and his passenger were not injured.

According to a statement released by Pratt & Whitney, Lemanski worked for the company.

“At Pratt & Whitney, we are saddened by the loss of our colleague, and our condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Lemanski,” the statement said.

Witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Officer Doug Clark, (860) 638-4064.
