Towns begin issuing parking bans due to snow

As snow accumulates on the roads, area towns are beginning to implement parking bans to allow crews to safely clear the roads.

The City of Meriden issued a parking ban starting at 11 a.m. until further notice.

North Haven will have a parking ban starting at noon through 4 p.m. Wednesday.

During the winter storm this past weekend, Meriden police issued 60 tickets and towed 27 vehicles. A tickets for violating the parking ban is $50.

Meriden police encourage neighbors to help each other out to be in compliance with parking bans. During a storm, the Meriden police allow citizens to park on their lawns and even the sidewalk as long as cars are off the streets so crews can plow curb to curb. Resident must move cars off the sidewalk the next morning.
