60-year-old Kensington woman charged in fatal hit and run


BERLIN — A 60-year-old Kensington woman has been charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident Saturday night that killed a 36-year-old New Britain man.

Debra Bailey, 60, of 42 Huckleberry Lane., is charged with driving under the influence.

Eber Perez, 36 of 571 Myrtle St., New Britain, was walking on the shoulder in the area of 485 High Road on Saturday about 7:40 p.m. when he as struck from behind by a vehicle driving by Bailey, said Deputy Police Chief John Klett. Perez died at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain.

Bailey stopped after hitting Perez, but left before police arrived, Klett said. Police found her at her home and arrested her. Additional charges are expected, Klett said.
