UConn to offer new major in Chinese Studies

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — The University of Connecticut has received approval to offer a new major in Chinese Studies.

The school’s Board of Trustees approved the plan last week.

The Bachelors of Arts degree in Chinese will include the study of Chinese languages, literature, linguistics and the history of China. School officials say it is an in-demand major because of China’s increasing role in the global economy.

The school says implementing the major will not require any new resources.
