MERIDEN — Police on Thursday released the name of the man shot on Springdale Avenue Monday afternoon.
Jermaine Turner, 27, whose last known address is Springdale Avenue, was shot in the groin after police received reports about two men arguing and a man waving a gun on the corner of Botsford Street, police said.
Turner did not suffer life threatening injuries and has been released from Hartford Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
But he is not cooperating with police, said spokesman Sgt. Darrin McKay.
“We will continue to work with the victim but right now he’s not very forthcoming as to the details of the incident,” McKay said.
The incident, which occurred about 1:15 p.m., was the first shooting of the summer in the city.
Police Capt. Patrick Gaynor said Monday the department received a call about an argument and a man waving a gun near the corner of Springdale Avenue and Botsford Street.
“A minute later when units were going to that call, they get the call of a shooting,” Gaynor said.
One of the people involved in the argument matched Turner’s description, Gaynor said.
A pair of men’s shoes and pants were left on the sidewalk on Botsford Street.
