Middlesex Community College has signed an agreement with Post University that allows students who have completed any one of 11 two-year associate degrees to transfer to the university for a bachelor’s degree.

The Middletown-based community college, with a branch in Meriden, signed the agreement with Post University of Waterbury this week to expand opportunities for associate-degree students in accounting, biology studies, biotechnology, business administration, communications, computer information technology, environmental science, human services, management information, marketing and psychology.

“Articulation agreements are by definition partnerships,” Middlesex President Anna Wasescha said in a statement. “Post University has worked hand-in-hand with our faculty to create a comprehensive agreement that includes 11 Middlesex programs, with more agreements in the works. We are grateful to Post for being such engaged partners.”

Middlesex also has articulation agreements with the four state universities and the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford and the University of Hartford.

There are currently 11 community college programs certified with transfer tickets to the state university system, with plans to certify another six to eight programs in the fall, said Middlesex spokeswoman Cheryl Dumont-Smith.

Currently the tickets only apply to the four-year universities in the Connecticut State University system, as well as Charter Oak State College, but not the University of Connecticut, which is not part of the CSCU system.

However, students from the state’s community colleges who meet certain standards can receive automatic admission to UConn, but those agreements are not currently tied to majors, Dumont-Smith said.
