MERIDEN — A city resident is in the running to find true love as a contestant on ABC’s “The Bachelorette.”

Matt Munson, 32, is listed as a construction sales representative from Meriden in a short biography on the show’s website.

The show kicked off its 13th season Monday night, introducing thirty-one eligible bachelors to Texas attorney Rachel Lindsay, the show’s first ever African-American bachelorette. Munson is seen greeting Lindsay in a penguin costume in the first episode.

Munson’s biography states his greatest achievement to date is “probably the 10 years I have spent as a basketball coach, volunteering and working with inner city kids.”

Munson is a basketball coach at the Meriden Boys and Girls Club, according to Executive Director Larry McGoldrick.
