MERIDEN — A health care and rehabilitation center was sold this month to a California-based health care company. It is unclear what, if any, impact the property sale will have on the business.

Silver Springs Care Center at 33 Roy St., previously owned by Meriden Realty Investments, was sold to Summit Meriden for $6,650,000 on Aug. 10. The principal of Summit Meriden is listed as Summit Healthcare REIT Inc., an investment health care company based in Lake Forest, California, operating health care facilities in California, Texas, Connecticut and Oregon.

Staff at Silver Springs Care Center could not be reached for comment nor could representatives from Summit Healthcare REIT. Summit Meriden was registered with the secretary of the state on June 1.

The agent listed for Meriden Realty Investments also did not return a request for comment.

Silver Springs Care Center is a 159-bed nursing facility most recently valued at $5,042,700, according to city records. The facility offers skilled nursing, respite care services, physical rehabilitation, addiction recovery and behavioral and psychological care, among other services.

City economic development department officials did not respond to multiple requests for comment on the sale.

The business is not a member of the MidState Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the chamber said.
