MERIDEN — Meriden police said the investigation into the early Saturday morning shooting at a downtown bar is “open and active” as of Monday morning.

Around 1:45 a.m. Saturday officers were approached by people in the area of 105 Restaurant and Lounge, 105 Colony St., reporting that a shooting had just taken place inside the business, police said.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Midstate Medical Center by an unknown person before officers arrived at the bar, located at 105 Colony St. He was reportedly shot in the neck. He was taken by Life Star helicopter to an area trauma center. As of Saturday his injuries were listed as serious but non-life threatening. His identity is not being released by police.

Police determined the shooting took place inside the restaurant, Sgt. Darrin McKay said. There were no other injuries to anyone else inside the business at the time, McKay noted. On Monday morning Sgt. Christopher Fry said the investigation is open and active.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Erik Simonson 203-630-6318.
