MERIDEN — Police expect to release more information Wednesday on a string of incidents Friday, including a homicide on Britannia Street and a man struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 691.

“At this time I will not be releasing any further details,” Sgt. Darrin McKay said Tuesday morning. “However, I do anticipate being able to release further details tomorrow as well as the identity of the deceased.”

About 7:55 p.m. Friday night, police responded to reports of a suspicious man on Broad Street. The man walked onto Interstate 691 westbound, where he was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Police then received information on a series of incidents, including a stolen vehicle and car crash, both on Bunker Avenue, and a medical incident on Broad Street. Police believed the same man may have been involved. A gas station attendant on Broad Street reported seeing a man covered in blood cutting his throat before walking towards a nearby entrance to I-691.

About 8:50 p.m., police responded to a 911 call from 109 Britannia St. Officers found a deceased woman. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Division was called in to assist with evidence collection. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
