Ridge Road students present sign to school

Ridge Road Elementary School fifth grade students returned from April vacation on Monday, April 17 and presented the school with a legacy gift, a new school sign positioned at the entrance, in front of the atrium. The sign welcomes visitors with “A gift from the class of 2017” foot line.

“The gift beautifies and brightens up the school and starts a tradition of legacy gifts,” Jennifer Giering, the PTA co-president said. The PTA raised money for the sign. Members Kara Ladore and Catherine Chagnon also were at the presentation. Giering, Ladore and Chagnon all have children at the school, two in fifth grade.

School principal Patrick Stirk, who unveiled the sign, said it complements the new street sign that was posted recently. Both signs benefit visitors, who have had trouble locating the school, which is not visible from the street, and the main entrance to the school, which is one of several entries. “The new signs are beautiful and useful,” Stirk said.
