Man charged in connection to numerous thefts in North Haven last summer

NORTH HAVEN — A New Haven man faces charges in connection to a wave of burglaries and car thefts last summer.

Juan Carlos Morales, 21, of New Haven, was charged via warrants Sunday with 11 counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree burglary, four counts of third-degree larceny, two counts of fifth-degree larceny, two counts of third-degree criminal mischief, three counts of fourth-degree larceny, two counts of sixth-degree larceny, and 14 counts of conspiracy and attempt to commit third-degree burglary. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and interfering with police during his arrest. His bond was set at $222,000.

North Haven police said the town experienced “a number of thefts from sheds, thefts from vehicles, and stolen motor vehicles throughout town” during summer 2016.

After investigating the incidents, police developed Morales as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
