North Haven resident Caesar Rondina, who spent 26 years as a paramedic and firefighter, has penned a memoir based on his experiences, and another book, about American heroes.
“The Soul In Our Hearts,” released in May, offers reflections on life based on Rondina’s experiences as a first responder. “This book shows people how to look deep inside themselves, find truth in yourself, face it and deal with it,” he said. “Every topic refers to real calls. Some are quite graphic.”
Rondina was employed as a West Haven firefighter and was a paramedic with American Medical Response, working in 13 towns, including North Haven.
“In my years as a paramedic, I delivered 13 babies and assisted 76,251 patients,” he said.
Discussing “The Soul In Our Hearts” on his website, Rondina writes: “This book will walk you through your heart, mind and soul. You will see them in a whole different way. The way they really are. See how they all play an important, but often times, different and conflicting role in your life. You will experience real stories, about real people, in real situations. You may feel a personal connection to some of these due to experiences you may have had in your life, or those of whom you know. You will read the many skills you can develop in order to become a better you, if you choose to use them.”
Rondina’s second book, “Who Are the Heroes,” will be released this month. “It tells the stories of all kinds of heroes, from the military to EMS, police and fire, doctors and nurses, and personal heroes,” he said.
One of Rondina’s heroes is his son, who served in the U.S. Army in Iraq.
On his website, the author says “Who Are the Heroes” details “different types of heroes, different professions, and how they are made, and what they are made of. You will look at these professions much differently after you are shocked by their reality.”
Rondina’s next book will be based on case studies of a marriage counselor. His works can be purchased through his website, www.caesarrondinaauthor.com.
