Plainville High School seniors visited elementary schools before graduation

PLAINVILLE — It was a trip down memory lane Thursday morning as Plainville High School seniors walked the halls of their elementary schools, just hours before graduation.

Parents sniffled as the soon-to-be graduates wore caps and gowns for the first time before the big ceremony that night.

“They’re excited and emotional because he’s going off to college now,” said Dorothy Linnhoff about her Wheeler Elementary School students watching their brother participate in the senior walk.

Linnhoff initiated the idea of graduates visiting their elementary schools after seeing a similar event on Facebook.

“It was something we had to make happen,” she said.

The high school and three elementary schools collaborated to get the graduates to their former schools Thursday morning, also the last day of school for all Plainville students.

The elementary school students gave out flowers and cheered as the high schoolers walked by to the song “Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake.

School Superintendent Maureen Brummett and Plainville High School Principal Roberto Medic attended the Wheeler event, while other administrators and Board of Education members went to Linden and Toffolon elementary schools.

Linnhoff’s son Matthew was among more than 30 seniors that participated in the Wheeler event.

Before heading off to graduation rehearsal, the students posed in front of the Wheeler sign. 203-317-2448 Twitter: @KusReporter
