Rebecca Martinez (D)
Education: Newington High School, Kaynor Tech - nursing program, Goodwin College- Bachelors in Healthcare Administration
Prior political experience: Wheeler renovation referendum, Wheeler renovation Committee.
Platform:. As a community member and parent of two children at Wheeler, I care very much about the quality of Plainville schools. Our students deserve the best possible programs that allow them to achieve at high levels. As a taxpayer, I also believe that we can accomplish goals in ways that are cost effective even with current uncertainties regarding state funding.
Family: Husband - Javier Son Mason age 7, Son Logan age 4, 2 dogs
Community involvement: Wheeler Renovation Committee, served on the BOD for Plainville Early Learning Center, Family Fest Committee
Nicole Palmieri (R)
Position running for: Board of Education
Occupation: Universal Banker at Webster Bank
Education: Graduated from Marist College, in Poughkeepsie NY, with a degree in Finance
Prior political experience: Appointed to the Board of Education in February of 2017 to replace a member who resigned. Director of Social Media for Dr. William Petit’s State Representative 2016 campaign.
Platform: My goal as a member of the Board of Education is to remain one of the leading school districts in Connecticut in regards to Technology and maintain our high standards of education for every student, while being fiscally conservative with the tax payer’s money.
Family: 2 cats, Simba and Timone
Community involvement: Planning committee as the Director of Social Media for the Plainville Wings and Wheels and the PumpkinFest events. Volunteer at The Petit Family Foundation events such as the road race and Albano Ballet event. Volunteer in the Fireman’s tent making food at the Balloon Fest.
Kathleen Wells (D)
Occupation: Child Support Enforcement Officer, State of Connecticut
Education: 1982 graduate of Hamden High School, Hamden, Ct. and 1986 graduate of St. Michael’s college, Winooski, Vt.
Prior political experience: none
Platform: Keeping Plainville Public schools strong for everyone.
Family: Husband Eric Wells, 2 children Quintin Wells and Mikayla Wells and two cats.
Community involvement: Member of the Board of The Plainville Colts and a member of The Toffolon PTO
Lori Conslavo (R)
Occupation: Healthcare insurance field for the past 20 years
Education: Currently working on completing her bachelors in business management
Prior political experience: none
Platform: Be an advocate for the community by creating a balance of quality education while maintaining a financially stable budget for the people of Plainville.
Family: Husband John, five children
Community involvement: Coach for the Plainville Colts tiny mite cheerleaders, lecturer at Our Lady of Mercy parish, member of the Plainville Republican Town Committee, volunteer for William Petit’s candidacy for State Representative
Becky Tyrrell (D)
Occupation: Food Service Director
Education: Associate degree in Nutrition
Prior political experience: 16 years on Board of Education
Platform: I believe in public education and I will continue to work in support of schools and students.
Family: Married to Dave for 33 years, 3 children all PHS graduates, 2 cats Oliver & Sophie, one Chinchiila named Stone.
Community involvement: Toffolon PTO, Middle School PTC, Relay For Life of Plainville, regional representative on the CREC Council and serve on the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education Board of Directors.
Andrea Saunders (R)
Occupation: Document Management Consultant
Education: Graduated from John Ehret H.S. in Marrero, LA in 1980. Attended the University of New Orleans for 2 years then graduated from the University of Florida in 1985 with a B.S. degree in Accounting.
Prior political experience: Elected to the Board of Education in 2009. Co-campaign manager of Dr. William Petit’s run for State Representative in 2016.
Platform: I have always believed in working hard for our students while being sensitive to the taxpayers I represent. This includes working collaboratively with town and state officials.
Family: Husband Scott, 31-year-old son named Joshua. 3 mini-poodles named Fergie, Jasmine and Sunny. Cat named Miso.
Community involvement: Treasurer for Plainville Wings and Wheels and Plainville Pumpkinfest. Volunteer at the food booth for the Plainville Fire Co. Balloon Festival and volunteer for other various Fire Co. activities throughout the year.
