Southington police investigating fatal accident on West Street on Sunday

SOUTHINGTON — Police are investigating a fatal crash Sunday morning on West Street.

Sgt Jeffrey Dobratz said the two-car crash was reported at 2:14 a.m. at the intersection of West and West Queen streets.

Police said Carlos Barrios was driving south on West Street near the intersection with West Queen Street. Jason Dominguez was driving west on West Queen Street into the intersection with West Street. Barrios’s car struck Dominguez’s vehicle on the passenger side as it drove into the intersection, Dobratz said.

Jimmy Cintron-Guzman, a front seat passenger in Dominguez’ car, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, where he was pronounced dead. Dominiguez was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with non-life threatening injuries, Dobratz said. Barrios was taken to Waterbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There have been no charges filed as of Monday afternoon.
