A Plainville man who teaches at a technical school in Hartford is facing a fourth-degree sexual assault charge stemming from an incident involving a 14-year-old student.

Joseph Corbett, 61, of 71 Prentice St., Plainville, was charged by warrant Friday. He was released on $2,500 bond and is due in Hartford Superior Court on Sept. 12.

State police say the trooper who serves as school resource officer at A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford initiated an investigation on June 12 “into inappropriate misconduct by one of the school teachers” involving a 14 year old student, state police said in a statement.

After a lengthy investigation, a warrant was granted charging Corbett.
