WALLINGFORD – Four people, including a pregnant woman, were injured Saturday morning when a car coming down a steep driveway on North Main Street Extension rolled on its side.

The accident occurred near the Yale Avenue intersection shortly before 11 a.m. Battalion Chief Rick Gibson said the car was coming down a driveway when it crashed into the woods.

All four occupants were taken by ambulance to the hospital as a precaution. He described their injuries as non-life-threatening. Firefighters had to break one person out of the car since it was on its side.

“We did have to extricate one person,” Gibson said.

A wrecker towed away the car. The long driveway was filled with police cars, fire engines and ambulances. Police directed alternating one-way traffic on North Main Street extension.
