SOUTHINGTON — A local man is accused of crashing a stolen car and fleeing earlier this month.

Domenic Luongo, 18, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary, interfering with an officer, evading responsibility, operating a car without a license and failure to drive in the proper lane. He was released on $5,000 bond and is due in court Oct. 7.

Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz, police spokesman, said Luongo was arrested on a warrant in the Sept. 12 incident. Police allege Luongo stole a car on Round Hill Road, crashed into two utility poles on West Street and fled the scene on foot.

When police interviewed Luongo, he first denied being involved with the theft but later admitted to his involvement, Dobratz said.
