Police ID Hartford man slain at barbecue


HARTFORD — Hartford police have released the name of a man who was fatally shot at an outdoor barbecue this week.

Police said the victim was 33-year-old Jose Torres who lived on Douglas Street in Hartford.

Police said Torres was shot at close range in the chest at the gathering on Adams Street at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at Saint Francis Hospital.

Police have said they believe several other people attending the barbecue witnessed the shooting and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
