The Middlesex Dance Center of Middlefield concluded its 24th season with its annual dance concert at Coginchaug High School. Toni-Lynn Miles, owner and director, presented dance study trophies as well as other awards. Emily Augeri was presented with her 13 Year Dance Study award; Rachel Arreguin and Penelope Wickwire received their Eight Year Dance Study awards. Five Year Dance Study awards went to Mya Seymour and Mackenzie Spooner; Three Year Dance Study trophies were awarded to Ariana Fudge, Corra Perez, Sydney Quicquaro, and Josephine Belisle. Receiving the 2016 Rosamund F. Lange Awards for dedication and pursuit of excellence in technique and presentation were 11 year old Catherine Fay for jazz, 10 year old Hailey Spooner for ballet, and 14 year old Sarah Godbout for tap. The winner of the 2016 Dance Spirit Award, presented each year to a dancer who best exemplifies what dancing is all about through effort, energy, example, attitude, and presentation, went to graduating senior Lauren Badin of Rockfall. In lieu of charging admission to their performance, students at the Middlesex Dance Center collected food, blankets, money, and other supplies to benefit Animal Haven in North Haven and Cat Tales in Middletown.
