If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you won’t have to go far. Catch a movie on the Meriden Green or check out a car show in Wallingford. There’s also the North Haven Fair, area garden markets and the Meriden Grange Fair.


Free movie night featuring “Big Hero 6”

When: 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Meriden Green amphitheater, 77 State St.

Description: The Parks and Recreation Department and Metro PCS host a free movie on the green featuring “Big Hero 6.” Popcorn and drinks available for purchase. Feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Connecticut Walk from Obesity

When: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Hubbard Park, 979 W. Main St.

Description: Lace up your sneakers and walk to raise awareness of obesity. Presented by the state chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. On-site registration is $35. More information can be found at www.walkfromobesity.com.

Sportscard and memorabilia show

When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday

Where: Platt High School, 220 Coe Ave.

Description: See the latest in sports cards and memorabilia, including autographed cards and more.

88th annual Grange Fair

When: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday

Where: Meriden Grange, 540 Broad St.

Description: Free to the public with baking, needlework, flower show, canning, arts and crafts and more.

Farmers market

When: 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Meriden Green, 46 Pratt St.

Description: Fresh produce, specialty foods, arts and crafts, community booths and entertainment.


Kids car show

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

Where: PNC Park, 171 N. Plains Highway

Description: Hosted by the Fred Ulbrich Memorial Fund. Free for kids under 15, $10 for adults, $20 to show your car. More information can be found at www.ulbrichfund.org/donate.

Garden market

When: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday

Where: Doolittle Park, 78 S. Elm St.

Description: Fresh produce, vendors and entertainment.


10th annual pig roast

When: 3-9 p.m. Sunday

Where: Jerzie Joe’s Sports Bar and Grill, 202 Newell St.

Description: End of the season celebration with live music.


2nd annual clam bake

When: 2 p.m. Sunday

Where: C.J. Sparrow Pub & Eatery, 908 S. Main St.

Description: Lobster slaw, clam potatoes, mussels, shrimp garlic bread and more. Tickets are $55 per person.


75th North Haven Fair

When: 3-11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday

Where: Fair grounds, 290 Washington Ave.

Description: Food, entertainment, vendors, rides and more.
