WALLINGFORD — A local man faces charges after police say he fled after a head-on crash on Grieb Road Friday night. Police identified him after finding his license plate at the scene.

Brandon Walsh, 25, of 59 Seiter Hill Road, was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and improper turn.

Police responded to Grieb Road about 11:40 p.m. for a report of a head-on collision. Officers determined Walsh was driving on Grieb Road, near East Main Street, when he crossed over the double yellow line and struck another car traveling in the opposite direction, according to a police report. No serious injuries were reported. Walsh drove off without stopping, the report said. Officers found the front license plate of Walsh’s vehicle at the scene and went to his residence.

Walsh failed field sobriety tests and a breath test, the report said. He was taken into custody and later released on $5,000 bond.

Walsh is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 1.
