WALLINGFORD — A Northford man faces charges after police said he used a relative’s identity to avoid being taken into custody for violating probation.
Michael Massaro, 29, of 30 Mansfield Dr., Northford, was charged with criminal impersonation and violation of probation.
On Tuesday around 1:30 a.m., an officer saw a vehicle parked suspiciously on Ridgeland Circle. When he checked the plate, he learned it was registered to Massaro.
He knocked on the door of the residence and a man, later identified as Massaro, identified himself using a relative’s name and date of birth, according to a police report.
The violation of probation charge stemmed from unpaid restitution for a prior burglary conviction, according to a police report.
Massaro was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday. The judge set bond at $10,050. He is due back in court on Sept. 28.
