WALLINGFORD — A local man faces charges after police say they found cocaine after a crash late Wednesday night.

Paul Tomasello, 41, of 23 Montowese Trail, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, traveling unreasonably fast and failure to obey traffic control signals.

The crash occurred about 11:35 p.m. in the area of Hall Avenue, by River Road. An officer saw a small bag with white powder that tested positive as cocaine, according to a police report. The total amount of cocaine recovered was not available.

Tomasello was taken into custody and later released on $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Oct. 26.
