WALLINGFORD - The Soviet Union is a distant thought for students who have only read about the Cold War in text books. But for some of the Sheehan High School faculty it was a real threat they will never forget.

MERIDEN - In hopes of advancing redevelopment goals, the city has reached a tentative deal to buy property at 116 Cook Ave. and 85 Cooper St., a plan that must now be considered by the City Council and the public.
