Southington — A Southbury man and his 17-year old female passenger died early Saturday morning when their car hit the rear of a tractor trailer near exit 27 on I-84, according to state police.

Charlie Campoverde, 20 was traveling westbound toward exit 27 at about 6:53 a.m. when the Honda SUV he was driving drifted onto the right shoulder of the highway and struck the rear trailer of a parked truck, police said.

Campoverde and his passenger 17-year-old Aryana Youngquist, also of Southbury, were killed instantly. There were no injuries to the occupants of the tractor trailer.

The westbound right and center lanes of the highway between exits 29 and 27 were closed for most of the day following the crash.

Police are still investigating. Any witnesses to the accident are asked to call Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1070 ext. 6205.
