Snow began to fall in Meriden shortly before 7 a.m. The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement in effect for today. A heavy band of precipitation moving through the state is causing moderate to heavy sleet and snow. Meriden and Cheshire police are reporting minor car accidents on local roads. Several minor accidents have been reported on I-91 and I-691 in Meriden, in addition to another on Route 15 North in Wallingford.
