Late season snow storm causes delays on roads

The Department of Transportation is reporting delays on all highways and local roads due to Monday morning’s surprise snowstorm.

Snow began to fall in Meriden shortly before 7 a.m. The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement in effect for today. A heavy band of precipitation moving through the state is causing moderate to heavy sleet and snow. In Meriden, there was more than an inch of snow as of 11 a.m. Drivers were encouraged to exercise caution on all roads, with most considered slick.

Meriden and Cheshire police are reporting minor car accidents on local roads. Several minor accidents have been reported on I-91 and I-691 in Meriden, in addition to another on Route 15 North in Wallingford.
