Southington fire crews rescue man from ravine after car accident

SOUTHINGTON — Fire crews pulled an elderly man from a ravine after a car accident on Old Mountain Road.

Fire Captain Alan Zygmunt said the accident was called in about 6:30 a.m. and involved a one car accident, where the car went off the road and down a ravine about 30 feet.

Zygmunt said crews had to rescue the elderly man out of the car and he was brought to a hospital for treatment. His identity has not been released. As of 7:40 a.m. one unit was still on scene to finish pulling the car out of the ravine.

A portion of Old Mountain Road near Rt. 322 was closed while crews worked, Zygmunt said. No other cars were involved.
