Platt earns key conference win


BRISTOL — The Platt wrestling team picked up three overtime wins en route to a 39-27 CCC South victory Wednesday night over rival Bristol Central.

Chris Oyola, Josh Chaparro and John Bernardo each won contests in extra time. Oyola took the 126-pound match 5-3 and Chaparro won 6-4 at 138. Bernardo had to go triple overtime at 220 before earning a 5-4 decision.

Earning pins for Platt were Alex Tixi at 113 (0:51), Marlon Argueta at 120 (2:46) and Jordan Baggiero at 195 (3:47).

Youssef Saez recorded a 6-4 decision at 152 and teammate Bernard Figueroa won his 160 showdown 9-3. Jacob Skalski picked up a forfeit win at 182.

With the win, Platt improved to 10-1 overall and 1-1 in the South. Central dropped to 4-3 and 0-2.
