Maloney wrestlers stick East Catholic


MERIDEN — Ryan Pantalena and Dan Forniciari each recorded their 21st victories of the year Monday as the Maloney wrestling team eased past East Catholic, 63-15, in an interdivisional CCC clash.

Pantalena (21-1) won by decision over Max Gonzalez, 8-3, at 106 pounds, while Fornaciari (21-4) pinned Wyatt Mund in 41 seconds at 132.

Also for Maloney, Jophy Nieves (152) made short work of Peter Lonergan in 39 seconds to raise his record to 20-2.

Eli Manke (182), Dimitri Smith (195), Nick Craft (220), Nate Hunter (120) and Dan Ortiz (171) all won by fall. Bryan Gonzalez (285), Chris Herera (113) and Alex Martinon won by forfeit.

Maloney is now 15-2.
