MERIDEN — Freshman Caitlyn Hart went 3-for-4 with two triples, an RBI and a run scored to power the Platt softball team to its first victory of the season Wednesday, a 7-1 CCC crossover triumph over Bulkeley.Junior pitcher Machaila Arjavich flirted with a no-hitter until a leadoff single in the sixth spoiled her bid. She finished with a one-hitter. Arjavich walked two and struck out 10.At the plate, Arjavich had one of Platt’s five hits. Alyssa Talento added a single and a sacrifice fly for the Panthers (1-4).Bulkeley fell to 0-2. Glastonbury 13, Maloney 10: Down 13-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Spartans stormed back with eight runs and brought the tying run to the plate before the Tomahawks finished off the CCC crossover victory at Thorpe Avenue.Glastonbury, which led by as much as 9-0 before Maloney got on the board in the fifth, remained undefeated at 6-0. The Spartans fell to 2-5.Maloney’s seventh-inning rally featured seven hits, two walks and a steal of home by Brianna Moyer. Skyler Drost, Hannah Abele and Alexa Papallo all finished with three hits Wilcox Tech 25, Goodwin Tech 5 (5 inn.): Freshman Katie Gaedeke crushed two homers in a 4-for-5, five-RBI day for the Indians in a CSC contest in Meriden.Sam Petro (2-for-5, double, 4 RBI) and Nicole Tiezzi (3-for-4, double, 3 RBI) also had strong showings for the Tribe (8-0).Freshman Alex Nissle earned the win in the circle. She allowed five runs on four hits and three walks. She fanned 11. Cheshire 9, Career 0: Bri Floyd, Natalie Amato and Rachel Kaplan tossed a combined shutout for the Rams in a SCC Hammonasset tilt at East Shore. The trio allowed four hits and struck out eight.Floyd had a double at the plate and Emma Watkinson went 2-for-4 with two RBI. The Rams improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 Hammonasset. They carry a 34-game winning streak into today’s showdown in Cheshire with defending Class L champ Fitch.
