Bicyclist injured in hit-run accident

MERIDEN — A hit-and-run accident on Broad Street near Stop & Shop Tuesday left a bicyclist with minor injuries.

Police Sgt. John Rascewski said the driver of a white Ford Taurus struck a bicyclist while leaving the supermarket parking lot and then drove off.

The victim was taken to MidState Medical Center with a minor arm injury, said Lt. Michael Shaw of the fire department. The department received the call at 4:54 p.m. and cleared the scene in about 10 minutes, he said.

The fleeing vehicle may have damage to either the driver’s side door or the front fender. Anyone who witnessed the incident or can provide further information is asked to call the police at (203) 630-6215.
