MERIDEN — A car fire shut down two lanes of the eastbound side of Interstate 691 Sunday, just after Exit 12.
No one was injured in the fire, which was reported to state police around 4:15 p.m. There were no fluid leaks, so state police said they did not have to call the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
City fire crews were called to put out the blaze.
The right and center lanes were reopened an hour later, according to information from the state Department of Transportation.
