LEGAL NOTICE Resident and Non-Resident Taxpayers of Wallingford List of October 1, 2018 “Second Installment” and Supplemental Motor Vehicle Taxes Are Due January 1, 2020 FINAL DATE FOR AN ON TIME PAYMENT IS FEBRUARY 3, 2020   The second half installment of Real Estate and Personal Property taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2018 are due January 1, 2020, and payable by February 3, 2020. You received the bill in June; we do not send another bill for the second installment.     Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax is also due January 1, 2020 and payable on February 3, 2020. Delinquent motor vehicle taxes shall be paid only by Cash, Bank Check or Money Order if you require a release to register a motor vehicle.   Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax and respective penalties should the account become delinquent. If you have purchased property you may need to contact the previous owner, your attorney, or the Town to procure the bill, or to determine the amount due.   If you pay your taxes by check, it is your responsibility to make sure your check has cleared. The Tax Office cannot be responsible for lost mail.   Checks in payment of property taxes which have been returned by the bank shall be subject to a thirty ($30.00) handling fee.   Unpaid taxes will be considered delinquent as of February 4, 2020.  On that date, interest will be charged from the original due date of January 1, 2020.  Interest is charged at a rate of 18% per year in accordance with the provisions of C.G.S.
