In November 2019, the Berlin Board of Education was recognized at the annual CABE/CAPSS Convention for board leadership and communication for our continuing efforts to foster stronger communication with our community.
The Connecticut Association of Board of Education (CABE) is an organization that provides services, programs and professional development to help school boards and board members provide leadership within their school districts.
The Berlin BOE spent the 2018-2019 calendar year working to achieve the CABE Board of Distinction Award. Boards which have achieved CABE’s Board Leadership Award at least twice in the last four years are eligible to receive the Board of Distinction honor.
The Berlin BOE was also recognized for a communication award, The Bonnie B. Carnie Award of Excellence for Educational Communications.
The board values communication and will continue to strive to reach all stakeholders within our community.
We’re also proud to announce that The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) has reviewed the progress report of Berlin High School and voted to continue the school’s accreditation. Over a year ago, NEASC representatives from NEASC spent several days at BHS and provided feedback for continued growth and improvement.
One of the citations from the committee was for the addition of a district director of safety and security with updated emergency procedural plans. At that point, BHS’s school accreditation status will be reviewed once again. The Board of Education is proud of our current principal Eileen Eustis and the leadership she has shown to navigate through the NEASC accreditation process.
