Berlin celebrates ‘Month of Mom’

Rather than just a single day, mothers in town will be celebrated for the entire month of May.

Economic Development Director Chris Edge announced the new campaign — May is the Month of Mom. Similar to the Eat Local – Win Local campaign, the goal is to get people out of the house to support local business while also celebrating moms.

“Mother’s Day is really going to be a wash. Everybody is going to be in their houses and moms may get flowers. Likely they’ll get a meal from kids and dad that they may not even want to eat,” Edge quipped.

For the month of May, local businesses will be offering specials as part of the campaign. These includes free jewelry cleaning of up to five items at Dynasty Jewelers, half-off golf lessons at Timberlin Golf Course, half-off detailing packages at Schaller Subaru/Auto World, and more.

Edge said that the Month of Mom effort was inspired by the success of the Eat Local – Win Local campaign. According to Edge, the EDC received receipts totaling over $10,000 from residents during the month of April.

Month of Mom will run the same as Eat Local – Win Local. Residents need to spend at least $15 at two different participating businesses. A copy of the receipts should be sent to and participants will be entered in a raffle to win one of 10 $25 gift cards.

However, this campaign comes with an added twist.

“We’re giving away a girls’ night out,” Edge said. “Premier Limousine will be picking up you and 20 of your friends in a party bus for four hours.”

According to Wayne Roberts of Premier Limousine, the opportunity to be the grand prize for the Month of Mom is just another chance for him to support the community. “I’m just happy to jump in and help whenever I can,” he said.

Also, the grand prize winner will receive a necklace with a Swarovski crystal from Dynasty Jewelers, two “Works Packages” from TASCA Ford, and a $25 gift card.
