The Berlin Police Department will be conducting a high-visibility seat belt campaign beginning on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 25.

This effort is in conjunction with the statewide “Click it or Ticket” campaign sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Throughout the Thanksgiving holiday, Berlin police will be conducting occupant safety belt checks at various locations in town and issuing citations to those who are unbuckled.

“The intent of this enforcement effort is to remind motorists to always use good highway safety sense, especially during this highly traveled holiday season,” Deputy Chief of Police Chris Ciuci stated.

According to statistics provided by the state, from 2011 to 2015 seat belts saved nearly 64,000 lives— enough people to fill a large sports stadium.
