Berlin ‘Romp’ effort spotlights local shops

Economic Development Director Chris Edge recently launched a program to put a brighter spotlight on some of the town’s businesses. The “It’s All In Berlin” project unfolded July 20 and 21, bringing home decor businesses and real estate agents together for the Real Estate Romp.

“I wanted to bring together in one place, somewhere the community could come to to get everything they need for their homes,” Edge said, adding that this was a project of which he is especially proud.

“We are so pleased that seven creative home decor Berlin firms participated as part of the Real Estate Romp, which brought a number of professionals in the real estate and design fields to town.”

The event showcased businesses throughout the community. At each location, visitors were served food and beverage as they checked out what each store had to offer.

The businesses that participated were: Bungalow on the Ave, Brass City Tile Designs, Dragonfly Home & Gift, Modern Plumbing Supply, Inc., Home and Harmony, Ravishing Decor, and Sherwin Williams.

“We are looking forward to doing more events like this in the near future,” Edge said.

Tracy Shipman, owner of Dragonfly Home & Gift, said, “Lots of people came in that haven’t come here before, which is nice. They were checking things out, swapping business cards, and coming up with ways to collaborate ideas.”

Visitors who stopped by five of the seven sites, gaining a checkmark for each visit, received a chance at winning one of five $50 restaurant gift certificates.
