BERLIN — A McGee Middle Student suffered a broken hip and concussion after being hit by a vehicle early Monday morning.

Berlin police said the student was alert and conscious after being struck and was transported to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. along High Road.

Superintendent of Schools Brian Benigni said the student suffered a broken hip and concussion and remained at the hospital late Monday afternoon.

As of midday, police said they had not determined the circumstances that led to the accident. The incident remains under investigation.

Police didn’t identify the student and said they weren’t sure of his age.

A portion of High Road was closed into the afternoon as police investigated.
