On May 19, the Republican Party held its convention to select a candidate for the House of Representatives, District 30, in which I was a delegate. Berlin Town Councilor Donna Veach won the endorsement of the party. However, the other nominee, Pastor Jim Townsley, has filed to primary against Veach.
I fully support Donna Veach and feel she is the best person to represent Berlin and Southington as our State Representative. She has strong, conservative principles, has experience in local government and understands the needs and issues facing Berlin and Southington.
Donna has been an effective leader in business and in the community, and is committed to working hard for all citizens.
Please vote for Donna Veach for State Representative in the Tuesday, Aug. 11 primary.
Surprised and troubled
After looking at the photos of the recent protest at Veterans' Memorial Park in the June 11 paper, I was surprised and troubled (after searching page by page three times) that there was no text to accompany the images. I am well aware that The Berlin Citizen is not a major news outlet, but to not even mention what brought hundreds of predominantly white Berlin citizens to a demonstration on what has become a major issue in this country is irresponsible and a grave disservice to our town and the public. As one of the signs that I saw read: “Silence is Violence.”
