Kensington Garden Club members have donated many hours of gardening in May to beautify several park areas. Wearing face masks and practicing social distancing, members donned garden gloves and grabbed their hand trowels.
The largest effort was at Volunteer Park where the group weeded and put in place a large number of plants provided by the town.
Other historic areas included the patriotic displays at Worthington Ridge War Memorial and the Civil War monument, just in time to honor those that sacrificed their lives for us.
The garden club also cleaned, weeded and raked Marjorie Moore Bird Sanctuary.
The volunteers included Irene DeSanto, Elva Stregowski, Evelyn Anderson, Kathy Ginotti, Donna DeSimone, Bonnie McNair, Nancy Drain, Karen Kinney, Dottie Fox, Lindsey Wright, Nina Mortensen, Barbara Schweitzer, Maryann Massirio, Carol Welz, Debbi Wright and Paula Archacki.
Kensington Garden Club was organized in 1955. The purpose of this nonprofit club is to operate for charitable and educational purposes, and for the well-being of the community and public benefit. The club promotes civic beauty, encourages improvement of public spaces, raises awareness of environmental concerns and advances the art of floral design and horticulture.
