Local teen photographer celebrated

ASAP!’s annual Celebration of Young Photographers provides students in grades 6 through 12 the opportunity to participate in a large-scale professional art exhibition and juried show.

A panel of professional photographers select 60 photos, and the top four photographers are recognized for their work and receive the Dylan’s Wings Photography Award and a special prize.

Berlin High School freshman Madelyn Lazzara’s “Natural Mask” was chosen as one of the top 60 photographs out of more than 200 submissions. Her work will be featured during the Celebration of Young Photographers Livestream YouTube Event on Sunday, Dec. 6. Beginning at 4 p.m., the event will include a guest speaker, the announcement of the top two photographers from grades 9 through 12 and 6 through 8, and the chance to vote for the viewer’s choice.

ASAP! is a cultural arts organization out of Northwestern Connecticut whose mission is to foster creative, hands-on learning through the arts. Visit asapct.org for more information.
