A new tile shop opened in Berlin just in time for those looking to spruce up their homes for spring.

For more than 13 years, Brass City Tile Designs operated in Waterbury before store owner Martin Niatopsky decided to open a second location, in Berlin. The family-run business is located at 33 Webster Square Road.

The shop offers a wide selection of high-quality tile products for kitchens, bathrooms, and more. Customers can browse a large showroom and take samples to try at home.

The Berlin store opened in March and is run by Niatopsky’s son, Joe Niatopsky, who has worked in the tile industry for more than a decade.

The younger Niatopsky said Brass City Tile Designs prides itself on its reputation.

“It’s always fun to help someone design their perfect shower, perfect bathroom, or anything else,” he said.

“Our goal is to treat everybody as if they are our own family, while making sure we provide the best service.”

While COVID-19 wreaked havoc on many businesses, Joe Niatopsky said Brass City Tile Designs saw a 25 percent boost in sales during the pandemic.

“COVID hasn’t been great for a lot of people, but luckily, for us, it has been beneficial,” he said. “Everyone is at home, and many are finding things they want to change or improve.”

Brass City Tile Designs is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit
