Pedestrian dies after being struck by train in Berlin Tuesday



BERLIN — A 23-year-old from Bristol was struck and killed by a CT Rail train on Tuesday evening, according to police.

Police identified the man on Wednesday as Amani Abele Ashley. 

Berlin police began receiving calls at 5:26 p.m. regarding an incident on the train tracks that run adjacent to Kensington Road near the intersection of Surrey Lane. 

The pedestrian was walking south on the train tracks and was struck by the train traveling south, police said. Witnesses reported that just prior to the collision they heard the train sounding the horn continuously.

The victim was found by officers with life-threatening injuries. They began emergency care but the man was pronounced dead shortly after. 

Amtrak Police responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation. They are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact Amtrak Police at 800-331-0008.
