After 20 years of providing pain relief and relaxing massages, the owner of The Right Touch Massage in Berlin took a step back and handed the reins to one of his employees.

“I’m really happy that the new owner has lots of passion and energy to keep this business going in the right direction,” said Dave Kinney, who had owned the Farmington Avenue business since March 2007.

Jessica Pappas, who has worked alongside Kinney for 11 years, took over as owner on June 2. “Having had worked here for so long, I was ready for a new challenge,” she said.

“It feels great. I’m really excited to be here.”

A graduate of the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, Pappas enjoys being able to help her clients. “Doing massage is very satisfying,” she said. “You help them feel better.”

Right Touch Massage was opened by Chaleen Blothe Abely on May 10, 1988, Kinney said.

“We take care of our clients,” he said, noting that one man walking past had been a customer for some 20 years.

The five massage practitioners Right Touch employs focus on providing pain relief through massage, Kinney said. “Of course, we do a very nice, relaxing massage too.”

Kinney will continue giving massages there part-time, working with many of the same clients he has had since he started in 1998.
