Berlin cops go the extra mile for Special Olympics

Each year the Berlin Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies around the state, participate in the Connecticut Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, a major fundraising event to support Connecticut Special Olympics.

The 2021 Torch Run, held June 17, marked the 35th year that the Berlin Police Department has participated. The run through Berlin covered approximately seven miles.

A Berlin Police Department press release states, “On behalf of Chief John Klett, our Special Olympics coordinator Officer Mark DePinto, and the entire Berlin Police Department ... [we’d] like to express our sincere thanks to participating staff members, the citizens of Berlin, and our local businesses that supported this worthwhile cause. Your generous support enabled the Berlin Police Department to raise $2,610 for the Connecticut Special Olympics this year.”
