Commentary: Honoring those who served

Commentary: Honoring those who served

In America, we know our veterans are still serving and rising to meet the challenges of this uncertain time. We also recognize the families of our veterans who have served in WWI, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, etc. and we would like to honor these veterans and their immediate family members who have served, or who are currently serving, on the Berlin Veterans Wall of Honor.

The Berlin Veterans Commission created the Berlin Veterans Digital Wall of Honor that is set up in Town Hall and is also available to see online for families and friends of our veterans who don’t live in town. You can find the latest updated online link via the town’s website on the Berlin Veterans Commission’s page.

We are looking for Berlin residents and/or their immediate family members who have served or are currently serving in the military - Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard & Reserve. Just one family member of the veteran or active military needs to have lived in Berlin, now or in the past.

We put all family members grouped together, from the earliest to the latest time of service (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc.)

Berlin’s Digital Wall of Honor is a way to show our sincere thanks to our country’s service members who have been defending the freedoms, rights and liberties we now have as Americans.

In these times, now that we are staying home and social distancing, it is a good time to find the photos, military history, and/or DD 214 (Release from Active Duty) of yourself or any family member who has served or is currently serving in the military, so we can honor you and them on the wall.
