Over the summer, Timberlin Golf Course head pro Marc Bayram was named the CT Section PGA Teacher of the Year.
The recognition is awarded for excellence in golf instruction, promotion of the sport through teaching, and overall performance as a golf professional.
Bayram said several factors played into him being chosen Teacher of the Year.
“The programs for both juniors and adults at Timberlin have been successful for many years, especially the junior programs,” he explained. “Timberlin has had a storied tradition of successful junior golfers for many years.”
But Bayram has not rested on Timberlin’s laurels since taking the reins of the course in 2011.
“In the spring of this year I ran a promotion on social media offering free swing analysis during the quarantine time of the pandemic,” Bayram pointed out. “This promotion was recognized nationally by the PGA of America as a Coaching Best Practice in PGA Magazine. I felt it was a great idea to keep golfers engaged during a very uncertain time.”
Speaking of the CT Section PGA Teacher of the Year recognition, Bayram said he will cherish it forever.
“Normally this award is given to a full-time instructor or coach, not a head golf professional who wears so many hats,” he said. “So it is definitely special.”
